Toyota Start Your Impossible - Olympics 2024
Toyota, a sponsor of the 2024 Olympics, tasked us with creating a site that showcased their global athletes and encouraged user participation in the lead-up to and during the games. We pitched and executed two ideas to meet that goal. First, we developed an interactive 3D WebGL globe, allowing users to explore the earth, click on various locations, and learn more about Toyota-sponsored athletes from those regions. Additionally, we introduced a feature where users could send messages of support to athletes representing their home country, with a fun twist: users could upload photos and decorate their messages with digital stickers. The site surpassed the client's expectations, beating our KPI's for engagement and time spent on the site.

The Toyota team really wanted to highlight how many countries they sponsor athletes in on this web site. Our solution was this fun interactive webGL 3D globe. Users could pinch and swipe the earth to navigate. Toyota sponsored over 150 global athletes, so our solve was to drop a pin on each country where they sponsored an athlete. Users could then tap on the pin to see what country and what athletes were sponsored there. Users could then tap the athlete displayed to see their profile page to read their bio, see their accomplishments, and their social media handles.

One of the ideas we had was for a way to inspire and support Toyota's sponsored athletes. We wanted to let users show their support for their country's athletes. Users could navigate to athlete pages from the interactive webGL globe or from the athlete homepage where athletes could be sorted by country. In the modal for each athlete's profile, users could tap "Send Now" where they would enter their information as well as the message of support they wanted to send to the athlete. We added the ability to upload photos or videos as well as digital stickers that would be displayed with the message. The messages were displayed on the website and shared to social media as well. We heard from the athletes that they enjoyed reading all of the messages they received.
