The challenge

Campaign sites were built once, used for a season, and thrown away. Expensive, slow, and nothing carried over.

Every marketing moment meant a new microsite: new build, new patterns, new bugs, then the landfill. Teams were paying full price for disposable work.

Adventure Detours, a community-first storytelling series, was the chance to build differently: an authorable platform where marketers assemble campaign experiences from flexible modules.

The approach

Moves that mattered
01

Author, don't rebuild

Editors compose pages from a kit of story, map, video, and vehicle modules. New campaign, no new code.

02

Story first

The system was designed around narrative pacing, so authored pages feel crafted rather than assembled.

03

Prove reuse

We stress-tested the platform by shipping a second, completely different campaign on it: a Spanish language World Cup experience.

The outcome

The second campaign shipped in a fraction of the time, and the platform is still paying for itself.

Adventure Detours became the largest campaign landing page in Toyota.com history by traffic and time on page. Then the same platform turned around a World Cup campaign in another language without a rebuild.

Campaign work at Toyota moved from disposable microsites to a durable system, changing the economics of every marketing moment since.
